Former President of India Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam was dreaming of India emerging as a super power among the nations of the world in about a decade. It is a progressive imagination born of emotions and unbridled ambitions. Mere statement devoid of sequential or remedial actions wouldn’t serve the purpose. Hence a dispassionate thinking at present has become imperative to notionally envisage a bright future for India.

No treatise in Tamil, be it mythical, historical, puranic or epical has escaped Thanthai Periyar’s ever – vigilant and scholastic notice. Almost all of them have been outrightly set aside, if not condemned as impractical for the progress of general public. But the only book that escaped his condemnation is Thirukkural an ethical treatise, said to have been written by Thiruvalluvar in the 2nd century A.D. Let the historians fight among themselves as to the age of Thiruvalluvar. Periyar was not concerned with the date of the work but for only the thematic content of it.
