No one did what E.V. Ramasamy, popularly known as Periyar (respected one or elder), did to Tamil society. The father of the Dravidian movement was a rationalist, a social reformer, a political activist and, above all, an unabashed atheist, the only one in modern India of his stature to publicly defy Hindu gods. But he did not remain a mass leader forever. When he was, he had the guts to denounce Mahatma Gandhi, and he played a key role in destroying the Congress party in what is now known as Tamil Nadu.

With depletion of natural resources  either by direct mining of petroleum products or coal necessary for thermal  energy, renewable  energy like wind power, biogas and solar energy are receiving increasing attention.  

What is solar energy?  What are its advantages?

Solar energy is  energy  which is available  by harnessing  light and heat from the Sun by use of technology.  It is an inexhaustible source sustainable by bringing down  fuel price by mitigating  the costs and reducing pollution.  The vast land surface, besides oceans   can serve the base  for receiving solar power.   It can produce ten times  more energy than  from non-renewable  resources like coal, oil and natural gas besides uranium as a source of atomic energy.  It is available to a larger extent in countries  nearer the equator like India  located in the tropical zone.
