They lived happily, until one day the prince had to go into exile – in view of the larger good. The princess followed him, out of sheer love. The hardships of the forest notwithstanding, they lived happily together, until the princess was abducted – again, for the larger good.

Everywhere, the priestly classes behave as if they guide the people to lead a pious and religious life. In reality, they are just misleading the people. They not only make them superstitious but also behave irrationally by giving too much importance to prayers and rituals.

They preach as if the supernatural power will respond to the prayers and give them a good life as reward. In reality, supernatural power has never responded to prayers in any manner. History confirms that human progress has occurred only by human effort and productive activities.

Tarun Vijay, who took oath in Sanskrit when he became the Rajya Sabha MP from the state of Uttarakhand in 2010, suddenly developed a fascination for Tamil language with a particularly overwhelming love and admiration for ‘Thirukkural’.

He first drew attention on him about two year ago by speaking in Parliament in favour of Tamil language, for which he was duly honoured at a specially organised function in Chennai, and he then started a mini-campaign to promote Thirukkural as a classic literary work.
