What did we start? It is Self Respect Movement. We wanted to instill a sense of honour into man. So many have fought with us. When I started the Self Respect movement, a minister in person asked me “What man! If it is self respect, does it mean that we have no respect or honour? It is a shame. Will not anyone who hears this, laugh at you?” I replied, “I am sorry.
Dabholkar – A profile
Narendra Dabholkar, a medical practitioner, who was aged 67, was gruesomely murdered by unidentified gunmen on 20th August 2013. He was a life-long fighter against superstitions. He was all his life confronting tantris and self-claimed godmen promising medical miracle cures. He was associated with a number of reformist organisations. He was known to be an activist for the rights of dalits.
