UPSC ploy to cancel National Languages in Civil Services Examination thwarted

Dravidar Kazhagam conducted demonstrations protesting against discriminatory guidelines of UPSC

UPSC in its examination notification dated 5th March 2013 calling for applications for the Civil Services Examinations to select candidates for IAS, IPS posts etc., stated that certain changes have been done in the choice of language medium as well as in the scheme of Civil Services examination. By this modification, the candidates hitherto privileged to select and write the language subjects were restricted with a condition that they should be having a graduation in literature on that subject.

Mumbai Rationalists’ Forum organised a function to celebrate 134th Birthday of Periyar E.V. Ramasamy and felicitate elderly Scholars who contributed for the public cause. The celebration was arranged at Bharatiya Music Hall, near North Indian Association, Scion – West, Mumbai on 23rd February 2013 by 6.30 pm. Dr. K. Veeramani, President, Dravidar Kazhagam felicitated all the scholars and addressed on the occasion.

Mother Teresa – ‘Anything but a saint’, says researchers

The Mother Teresa is known as an apostle of the dying and the downtrodden. Hence the Vatican has beatified and then canonised her. In 1968, Malcom Muggeridge of the London BBC produced an eulogistic film on Teresa. She is said to have performed a miracle of curing the abdominal pain of Monica Besra by placing her medallion on her stomach. All these are of dubious value.

Women’s Right – Strenuously guarded

Mrs. Monica , the second wife of South Africa based Vikas Sharma, filed a case in Patiala Court alleging a cruel treatment kicking her and threatening with divorce by her husband and his parents. The Patiala Court issued summons to the three respondents. Their appeal to the Delhi High Court against the summons were dismissed.
