Removal of the Cartoon

Distorting babasaheb Dr. B.R.Ambedkar in the NCERT text book

Protest emanated from Tamil Nadu , then Maharashtra and other States revolting against the inclusion of a cartoon in the 11th Standard text book  under CBSE  syllabus.

The cartoon distorts the image of Dr.B.R.Ambedkar. It raised lot of heated discussion and opposition at the floor of the Parliamentand Members beyond the different political idealogies stood in one voice to remove the cartoon from the text

The Government had to accept the reasoning behind the opposition and acted on it..

The disputed cartoon was designed in the late 1940s when  the  process of drafting of  the Indian Constitution was in progress. Strangely, it did not evoke any protest at that time. Now awakening and enlightening prevail among the oppressed for whose welfare Dr.B.R. Ambedkar struggled and sacrificed his life.

The awakening must be intensified for further progress.
During the lifetime of Dr.B.R.Ambedkar, whenever criticism and attack was pointed out to weaken his mission, he was helpless. No organizational support came to his rescue significantly.

Dr. Ambedkar openly said with self esteem at that time, during the phase of  such oppressive criticism from the dominative forces, the lone voice that supported him from the entire country was that of Periyar  E.V.Ramasamy from the south. The result of the cartoon episode  is the evolution of the support for the ideals nurtured by Dr.B.R. Ambedkar and Periyar. The mission nurtured by these social revolutionaries must flourish !
